ViceVersa Tools Packages Nine Mail Formats into Single File MHTML Archives

ViceVersa Tools has released MHTML Export, a new category of nine Windows desktop tools. Each tool converts mail into MHTML, a single file web archive format that keeps text, images, and formatting bundled together instead of split across a folder of linked files.

MHTML sits between HTML and PDF in what it’s built for. HTML export produces a page per message plus a folder of supporting files. MHTML keeps everything in one self contained file instead, so it can be emailed, uploaded, or moved without breaking links. PDF, meanwhile, locks the layout down. MHTML stays in a browser renderable format instead.

The Nine Paths Into MHTML

The nine tools convert the following sources into MHTML:

• EML to MHTML — useful for packaging a handful of individual messages into single files for a support ticket or a shared drive, without a folder of attachments trailing behind each one
• EMLX to MHTML — lets Apple Mail messages travel to a Windows machine or a non Apple archive system as one self contained file
• MSG to MHTML — turns an Outlook message into something that can sit in a document management system without needing Outlook to open it later
• MBOX to MHTML — it takes an entire Thunderbird style mailbox and produces one MHTML file per message, useful when a mailbox is being broken apart for separate storage or review
• PST to MHTML — converts a full PST for legal review or long term storage, without keeping Outlook in the loop
• NSF to MHTML — it gives IBM and HCL Notes mail a path into a format that doesn’t require Notes to still be installed anywhere
• TGZ to MHTML — unpacks an archived mailbox and converts its contents into browser ready files instead of leaving them compressed and inaccessible
• IMAP to MHTML — pulls mail directly off a live account for a snapshot in time, without waiting for a local export step first
• Office 365 to MHTML — captures messages from a live Microsoft 365 mailbox as standalone files.

Each conversion runs in one direction, from the source format into MHTML. “MHTML gets picked when a single file matters more than a folder full of them,” said a ViceVersa Tools spokesperson. “Legal holds, compliance archives, and handoffs between teams all tend to want one file per message that still opens the same way years later, and that’s what this category is built around.”

MHTML Export sits alongside HTML Export and PDF Export as the three archive focused categories in the ViceVersa Tools catalog.
