WARNING: My Terrible Experience with Hunter Burttschell of Burttschell Construction — Over $50K in Deficiencies That He Refused to Fix! Where do I even begin?

Calling this a nightmare is ironic. I hired Hunter Burttschell to build six cabins for me, and the enjoy became disastrous from begin to complete. He gives himself as a honest, religion-pushed professional — but my enjoy was something however that.

Lack of Supervision and Accountability

Hunter not often showed up on the task web page. When he did, it became quick and superficial. There became no satisfactory manipulate, no inspections, and no actual oversight. The outcomes were appalling.

Foundation Issues

Three of the homes had been built on piers, and his crew didn’t even stable the beams to the floor joists well. I pointed this out to Hunter, and he left out it absolutely — no repairs, no acknowledgment. The other three cabins, which had been constructed on slabs, had their own issues:

  • Cracking stucco
  • Foundations no longer sealed to the systems
  • Severe pest infestations (scorpions, pill insects, and more)

Again, Hunter was informed — and again, he did nothing to restore it.

Sloppy, Unsafe Work

  • Exhaust Fans: Vented into an enclosed attic as a substitute for out-of-doors—a simple however critical mistake.
  • Water Heaters: Installed in a manner that made the protection close-offs inaccessible.
  • Windows: Not sealed properly. I needed to pay another person to caulk them.
  • Shower Benches: Installed flat — immediately under the bathe heads — inflicting status water and puddles after every use.

Dangerous Electrical Work

This became, ina way, the maximum alarming element. I couldn’t even verify a license for the electrician he used. The wiring was genuinely no longer up to code and posed an extreme protection hazard. Despite repeated requests to deal with it, Hunter refused to take duty or make the vital corrections.

And Then It Got Even Worse…

Instead of solving any of those critical and nicely-documented issues, Hunter attempted to take advantage of the state of affairs. As I become getting ready to promote the belongings, he positioned a mechanic’s lien over a $sixteen,000 holdback — regardless of refusing to deal with over $50,000 in documented deficiencies.

When I requested him to restoration the problems, his response become literally: “Pay me in full first.” Let that sink in. He did shoddy, dangerous paintings, unnoticed each try to resolve the problems — after which liened my belongings after I held again a fragment of the fee until repairs were made.

Final Thoughts

This was via a ways the worst contractor experience I have ever had. Hunter makes big promises and boasts about discounts, but whilst things pass wrong (and they’ll), he disappears, denies responsibility, and attempts to sturdy-arm his clients.

If You’re Considering Running with Burttschell Construction, I Strongly Urge You to

  • Read the inspection reviews
  • Look at the pix
  • Talk to real beyond clients

Because what I’ve shared here is just the tip of the iceberg. Trying to save money up the front ended up costing me over $50,000 in maintenance — not to mention countless strain and frustration. I wouldn’t wish this revel in on all people.

Summary

I hired Burttschell Construction, led by Geoffrey Hunter Burttschell, and the results were shocking — unsafe work, zero accountability, and over $50,000 in unresolved issues. Avoid at all costs. Worst contractor experience I’ve ever had.
