ASEAN Cybersecurity Summit, Singapore Gathers Security Professionals from Across the ASEAN Region

August 31, 2018 ( PR Submission Site ) EC-Council one of the largest certification bodies in cybersecurity convened its ASEAN Cybersecurity Summit on 17th August 2018 at the Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel, Singapore. The summit brought together senior information security professionals from countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand.

This year’s summit was an unparalleled gathering of international security leaders who came together to initiate a dialogue about not just innovating but also securing our future innovations.

The summit also featured senior industry leaders from the banking, healthcare, telecom, legal, energy, government, and oil and gas sectors.  Mr. Jay Bavisi, President of the EC-Council Group moderated the ASEAN Stakeholders panel discussion on Adopting the ASEAN Leaders’ Vision for a Resilient and Innovative ASEAN. Senior leaders from across the ASEAN region shared their thoughts and plan of action with the attending audience.

There were 30+ senior information security professionals from the government and BFSI sector in particular who gave their opinions on topics like data security and data sharing vulnerabilities, cyber threat intelligence, challenges in building a smart nation and artificial intelligence policy, and global perspectives on threat intelligence and IOT.

Mr. Jay Bavisi, CEO, EC-Council gave his views on Collaboration between ASEAN countries to maximise effectiveness against cyber threats, he said “It’s a slow process and a process which requires tremendous amount of dialogue, the fact, ASEAN ministries came together signed a statement that was unilateral. They adopted the United Nation’s code for cyber law. They also believed unitedly in resilience which is a step forward”.

Among the technology companies featured in the exhibit hall and in technical sessions were Darktrace, Cyberbit, Google Cloud, Ivanti, F-Secure, Security Weaver, Rapid7, BitSight Technologies, I-Sprint Innovations, and Horangi.
